Spaghetti Dinner

Kellen had his first spaghetti dinner tonight. He LOVED it and ate an entire turkey meatball along with a hearty handful of noodles. I let him get all into it, and it was adorable. He is a pretty good eater and now the pressure is on me to keep thinking of new things for him to dive into.

You may notice some distict bags under Kellen's eyes in these photos. We are really struggling with sleep these days and have re-committed ourselves to cry it out. He was sleeping OK for a while, and by OK I mean waking twice at night, me feeding him, and him going back to sleep. For the past few weeks he has been waking and not going back to sleep. There are no photos of me here, but I guarantee you there are equal bags under my eyes. Eric and I have been zombies lately and something has to give. I hope the tryptophan in the turkey meatballs makes him sleep like a baby...

Trouble

Trouble is all around us, it's everywhere we go... or is it love... maybe both? Happy St. Patty's day, I have no idea the origin of the holiday, but I have a Guiness in my fridge to celebrate. I also made Guiness brownies, although I think I might have goofed the recipe because they are taking twice as long as they should to bake. Oh well. Kellen was a mighty big help making them, as you can see, he helped by taking out all of my bowls and scattering them across the kitchen. So helpful.

He also got his first sink bath at Grandma and Grandpa Tyson's house. Those teething cookies are so good, but sooooo messy. Many more sink baths to come.

Swimming!

We took Kellen swimming today at the Conestoga Swim Center. I had been wanting to do it for a while, I love swimming and I want to get Kellen used to the water as soon as I can. He was so cute in his little swim shorts, tummy hanging out... I could hardly stand it. We walked out into the pool area and his eyes got as big as dinner plates. I don't know how he knew, but I think he had a feeling he was in for a new adventure. Eric held him down the steps into the pool and he was truely terrified. We bobbed him around for a while, and I think he got a little bit comfortable, but we never actually got a smile out of him. We will keep trying... because any child of mine will need to like the water!

Kellen showing off

Here are a couple of videos of Kellen showing off his scooting and basic cuteness. He is getting very big, I unscientifically weighted him today and he came in at 19.6 lbs. He eats a TON, so he should be packing on the weight. Tonight I made him sweet potato fries and he loved them. Other favorites include brocolli, peas, green beans, yogurt and carrots. Sometimes I blend them all together just for fun. He is learning how to eat finger foods, but more food ends up in the chair with him and on the floor than in his mouth. I am learing to be OK with the mess, because it's part of the process!

Enjoy the videos!

Kellen's first post!

Kellen has mastered "scooting", which is his very own method of getting around. Not quite crawling yet, but getting there. He is also getting good at standing, but can't quite pull himself up yet, it's only a matter of time. He has 2 teeth on the bottom (which are crooked - better get an orthodontist lined up now!) one on the top and a few more on their way. We went on our first trip to the swings at the park last weekend which was awesome. We will be spending a lot more time at the park in the years to come.

First post!

I have been wanting to do this for a while now and I am finally getting around to it! I hope to post photos, videos and interesting tid-bits about life in the Simantel house. Stay tuned for more fun stuff :-)
